Statement of Objection to False Allegations in the U.S. House of Representatives on the Situation in Myanmar

On February 3, 2025, the House of Representatives held a hearing on Myanmar in Washington, D.C., where the participants cited information from terrorist groups, ethnic armed insurgents, and the media that was spreading lies and fabricated information without understanding the true situation, and deliberately created conflict in the multi-religious community in Myanmar.

The NUG terrorist leader Duwal Shila was reported to have participated in the hearing online, and allowing the terrorist leader to attend clearly shows that the U.S. House of Representatives is encouraging terrorist activities.

The hearing was attended by Stephen Schneck, the chairman of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), who spoke at the hearing. He said that after the military took power in Myanmar, USCIRF had designated the country a Country of Concern for Religious Freedom in 2023. He alleged that the military council had oppressed all religious communities in Myanmar in order to maintain its power and establish its vision of a Buddhist Nationalist State, but that Christians were the most affected.

The NLD party, which the U.S. government supports, was ousted from power due to voter fraud in the 2020 election and has been waging a violent campaign since till 2025. The NLD leaders, who operated under the names of the CRPH, NUG, and PDF terrorist groups, brutally murdered more than 8,600 innocent civilians. Among the victims were Buddhist monks, teachers, health workers, novices, nuns, students, and pregnant mothers.

The Tatmadaw-led State Administration Council government has repeatedly invited terrorist groups to engage in peace talks and to abandon their illegal acts of violence and enter the legal framework since 2022. The armed groups that are involved in terrorist activities in collaboration with the CRPH and NUG terrorist groups, such as the KIA, KNU, CNF, and KNPP, are Christian leaders. They themselves have trained NLD members and committed terrorist acts, which has caused socio-economic losses for local Christians close to them.

It is unsincere and dishonest of US lawmakers in believing that ethnic armed insurgents, including the NUG and CRPH, which mainly hiding their terrorist acts in Myanmar and spreading false propaganda such that the Tatmadaw-led government is committing religious persecution. This unsincere displays are executed in order to obtain US government support.

The Tatmadaw-led government is now working to return to the path of democracy by holding elections and establishing a government elected by the people, and it is necessary for the members of the US Congress as a great democratic body to correctly understand that the NUG, CRPH and their armed insurgents are working to sabotage the elections.

It is not the Tatmadaw that is creating ethnic and religious conflicts between Buddhists and Christians in Burmese society, but the NUG, CRPH and their allies, who are committing acts of terrorism with the support of the US government.

The hearings held with the help of US Congressmen are seen as a dishonest act of concealing the true situation in Burma and using fabricated statements to obtain aid and support after Donald Trump took office.

Thus, the US Congressmen, citing inaccurate information, are making false accusations. And, therefore, we strongly condemn any deliberate actions that are intended to cause conflict between Buddhist and Christian communities in Myanmar.
